Mapleton Falls National Park
Tucked away in the Noosa Hinterland is the Mapleton Falls National Park. Spanning 26 hectares across the Blackall Ranges, this National Park showcases what remains of a lush rainforest that once spread across the entire Ranges. You’ll find some stunning bushwalking trails leading through the forests and on to Pencil Creek near the picnic grounds.
Cooloola National Park
Cooloola National Park encompasses more than 56,000 hectares and includes the largest intact sand dune system anywhere in the world. This sandy National Park spans between Noosa Heads and Rainbow Beach.
The walking trails will lead you across pristine beaches, reaching back inland across the sand dunes, and on into rainforests and lakes. One of the attractions of the Cooloola National Park is the multi-coloured sand cliffs and natural wilderness.
You’ll find plenty of short-walk trails in this Park, but if you’re a keen bushwalker, there are multi-day trails available. The Cooloola Wilderness Trail is for experienced bushwalkers and should take between 3 and 5 days to complete. There are camping grounds and day-use areas available near waterholes. It’s important to take a map if you’re considering the longer bushwalking trails.
